Open Studio

Welcome to Open Studio (OS) at The Art House. OS exists as a friendly and inclusive community for those wishing to pursue their interest in everything clay related, whether you’re a hand builder or wheel thrower.

1: What we do

Wellbeing - The Art House created and hosts the Anderson Green Project – a creative art group for those recovering from addiction. For those participants who may need extra assistance with their mental health, the church’s Parish Nurses are available to provide support and pathways to external services. We also run a weekly wellbeing group for those experiencing mental health issues without addiction issues. We have been able to provide a quiet, protected space within our studio timetable thanks to cooperation between staff, members and volunteers.

Commercial - Your Open Studio Membership Fee helps fund our ambitions.

To support The Art House and sustain our charitable work, we run a varied programme of art and pottery courses, host one-day workshops, hire out our spaces for events, and curate exhibitions for the public to enjoy.

Charitable - We rent out space to other well-being organizations’ who share our values, we apply for grant funding, and we receive donations that all help towards delivering our community wellbeing charity.

Open Studio Overview

All OS members should have attended a pottery course or workshop at The Art House, or elsewhere, and have a demonstrable knowledge and ability to work safely and independently within a studio environment.

After an induction, Membership gives you access to the studios and its resources.

We aim to always have at least one member of the pottery team working in the building during OS hours. Staff are always happy to help you.
