Open Up 2018: 20 Years of Celebrating Sheffield’s Artists

Sheffield’s 20th Open Up Artists Studio event is taking place in May and we’re very pleased to say that The Art House is taking part. You’ll be able to see work by a variety of artists in our space and chat to them, as well as buy their art.

Open Up is one of the largest Open Studio events outside London and it’s a great opportunity to explore the creativity that’s alive in the city. All the studios are free to visit and offer a unique behind the scenes look at how artists work.  Our Art House line up showcases artists who work in a variety of mediums and the event as a whole takes in everything from jewelry to paintings to ceramics.
If you’re looking to meet creative people, get inspiration or to purchase unique (and local) works of art then it’s an event you’ll not want to miss.

The event takes place over two weekends and, with over a hundred different artists taking part, you can plot your own trail around the studios that interest you. The Open Up brochure is widely available or it’s downloadable from their website.

Started in 1998 by Keith Hayman and Kate Jacob, it remains an event which is run by artists for artists to celebrate the diverse seam of creativity that runs through the local area.  All those involved in organizing the event give their time and expertise voluntarily.

This is a celebration of all things creative and all things Sheffield, so we’d urge you to support it as much as you can.

The Art House café will also be open on some of the days and you’ll be welcome to look around at all that we do.

The event runs on the 5th, 6th and 7th May and also 12th and 13th May.  The Art House is open between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. Other studio times vary.
