This course introduces participants to the idea of using the medium of photography as a mindful practice. Sometimes called "miksang", a Tibetan word that means "the good eye", mindful photography encourages us to really pay attention to the world around us. Over the four days we will explore a number of ways in which we can cultivate this "good eye". This might involve some simple, short meditation practices and some formal and informal "seeing" exercises. Each of the four days involves a photo walk, exploring the city streets, followed by an opportunity to view our photographs together in the afternoon. We will also be able to share images online via a dedicated private group on the photo sharing platform Flickr. Each of the four days has a theme that will help guide us.
Requirements: Participants need only bring a digital camera of some sort a notebook and pen. Phones are fine.
The cost of this course includes a packed lunch - please let us know as far in advance as possible if you have any dietary requirements/allergies.
