SIP AND PRINT: FISH with Mia James
Block print fish onto fabric to create permanent textile designs!  At this workshop you can design and make catnip fish for your cat, lavender bag fish for yourself, fish prints for cards or bookmarks or create fish design fabric for items for your home.  All materials provided, but if you wish to also print larger designs for example, tea towels, scarves, lampshades, cushions etc. please bring your own items (must be light coloured).

Suitable for all abilities (even complete beginners!), bring your own drinks and we’ll provide the glasses! (18+)

BITE-SIZE OIL PAINTING: STILL LIFE with Marcin Szuba
Create a still life in oils.  Participants will make two sketches as warm-ups then use these to inspire your painting.

SIP AND FIMO: SCREEN PRINTED FIMO JEWELLERY with Gill Cosford 
Come along to this Sip and Fimo class and create this gorgeous pendant and ear rings set. Suitable for all abilities (even complete beginners!).

In this workshop you will be using polymer clay, (which is a highly coloured oven-hardening clay) which will be screen printed with a variety of designs, it will then be cured in the oven.This will be a step by step workshop, so it is perfect for beginners.
You should be wearing your jewellery at the end of the session and also have some extras to finish off at home. Full baking instructions will be given out as well as an instruction leaflet.

Bring your own drinks, we’ll provide the glasses! (18+)

COILED BASKETRY with Dee Sayce

Coiled basketry is the traditional craft of making containers and mats with a variety of materials. A coiled basket is made starting with a spiral shape which is then worked into the desired shape as it develops, using a binding thread around a core material. In this workshop you will learn how to make a small basket or mat, using your own choice of colours and materials, incl. cord, yarn, fabric, rushes, raffia etc.

SIP AND FIMO: FLOWER AND LEAF BUTTONS with Gill Cosford
Come along and create these cute polymer clay flower and leaf buttons. These buttons are suitable for clothing that is washed at 40 °c or or can be used for any soft furnishing project, knitted jumpers or adding onto any other crafty designs that may need a decorative touch. In this workshop you will be using polymer clay, which is a highly coloured oven-hardening plastic clay. This will be a step by step workshop. You will be able to choose your own colours too.

You will be taking your buttons home to bake them. Full instructions will be given out as well as an instruction leaflet. You will need to bring a baking tray to carry your creations home.

Suitable for all abilities (even complete beginners!). Bring your own drinks, we’ll provide the glasses! (18+)

In this workshop you will be taught how to block print onto fabric using permanent textile inks. Handmade blocks will include a range of fruit and vegetables to print onto either a drawstring or tote bag which can be used as a reusable shopping bag.All materials and a bag will be provided but please bring additional fabric if you wish to create more prints for your home or business.

WEDNESDAY ART CLUB with Flora Menager
Art Club is a great opportunity to develop your artistry in a social, inclusive and relaxed environment. The sessions provide the perfect balance between taught learning and freedom to develop skills in any medium of your choice with guidance and support from Flora.  A variety of drawing and painting materials will be available for use including: watercolour, gouache, pen and pencils, charcoal, pastels, acrylic, oils, inks.

Suitable for all levels of ability and experience from beginners.

AN INTRODUCTION TO SPINNING with Dee Sayce
Make your own yarn using the ancient craft of spinning using drop spindle and spinning wheel.  The workshop includes how to:

  • sort a fleece
  • card fleece into rolags ready for spinning
  • compare different fibres and fleeces
  • examine and use a variety of spinning equipment
  • spin using both a drop spindle and a spinning wheel

This workshop aims to teach you the basics of spinning in the hope that you will gain the basic knowledge and confidence to spin your own yarn at home.  This workshop is suitable for beginners.  Materials and equipment are provided.

MOSAICS FOR THE GARDEN with Diana Storey 
Students will learn a different mosaicing technique which involves putting glass, ceramics and found objects into cement. This cement can be coloured with students choice and formed into any shape they wish. Students will learn how to use tile and glass cutters and will leave a mosaic piece to dry which can be picked up the week after. The finished pieces are applicable for outside use. This is a fun fast way of mosaicing without the need for grouting.

SPRING FLOWERS AND SECRET GARDENS IN OIL PASTEL with Anna Massey 
On this day workshop you will learn how to use oil pastels to create both drawings and more painterly effects. We will be drawing individual spring flowers and creating an oil pastel ‘painting’ based on the idea of the Secret Garden – a hidden doorway or arch leading into the spring garden beyond. Suitable for beginners and improvers.

IMPRESSIONISM AND MIXING COLOUR with Flora Menager 
Through the practice of painting a still life participants will learn painting techniques used by impressionist painters and how to mix colour in order to depict the fleeting nature of light. This class is a great starting point for anyone new to painting or that would like to learn colour theory and mixing techniques.

PRINTMAKING: LEAVES with Mia James
In this workshop, we will experiment with printmaking onto paper and fabric using leaves and leaf motif printing blocks. We will start by printing with real leaves onto paper, then experiment with block printing onto fabrics (cotton, voile etc) using permanent textile inks, then make our own leaf printing blocks. After playing with a range of techniques and materials participants can then block print a larger design using their leaf blocks and a selection of my bird or squirrel blocks to create a unique artwork inspired by life in a tree.

BAND WEAVING with Dee Sayce

Learn how to make strong, decorative woven bands, using an inkle loom. Band weaving is a traditional method of weaving to make long woven bands for belts, bag straps and edging etc. In this workshop you will learn the basics of band weaving, make woven samples using a variety of patterns, techniques, colours and yarn. This workshop aims to give you the confidence and skills needed to set up and weave on an inkle loom independently at home.

This workshop is suitable for beginners.

If you have an Art House gift voucher please follow the instructions below:
• Pay the full price of the course online.
• Email us prior to the course date to tell us you have used a voucher.
• Bring the voucher with you on the day to receive your cash back.

Cancellation and refunds: If you wish to cancel your place on a course you must do so at least 14 days before the course starts in order to receive a full refund. Cancellation must be made in writing or email. If you require a refund we will charge £15 administrative fee. Alternatively you may transfer your booking to another course free of charge.

If you cancel your place less than 14 days before your course starts, you will only receive a refund of 50% course fee (or 50% of the fee value to transfer to an alternative course).  If you require a refund we will charge £15 administrative fee or you can transfer your booking to another course free of charge.

After a course begins we do not offer any refund unless in exceptional circumstances. 

If we have to cancel a course for any reason, then you will receive a full refund with no administrative fee deducted.
