ART TALKS with Mark Beachell

“HOW TO ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND THINGS THAT ARE MADE TO BE LOOKED AT!”
A series of completely down to earth illustrated talks inspiring appreciation of and helping to demystify the art world.  Whether you are a curious newcomer to the art world, an experienced gallery go-er or a creative person looking for a stimulating environment these sessions will be for you.

Starting with an illustrated talk, each session will open out into a discussion around the topic.  We will not be taking a dry art history approach to the art world, but rather taking a theme which opens a window into not just painting and sculpture but architecture, the decorative arts and a wider take on creative thinking.  Some of the sessions have a quirky angle on art so even if you know where you stand on art, you might just find yourself nudged somewhere else.

HOW TO PAINT LANDSCAPES With Mark Beachell
An exciting new course which will give you new ways of making art. Mark will lead you through the techniques of artists such as Turner, David Hockney, the Impressionists and lesser know but local artists such as Stanley Royle.

A particular emphasis will be placed on how the techniques of these great painters can be used to evoke the stunning landscapes around Sheffield.

Focusing on using acrylics, but also introducing pastel, gouache, watercolour and tempera you will be shown how the masters worked and how to interpret these techniques into a style all of your own. All materials are supplied and you will be given stage by stage painting instruction each session. This course is repeatable as each term will cover different artists, subject matter and media.
